Former Dean Drags Osun Poly to Court Over Employment Termination

Former Dean of Faculty of Mass Communication, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Mr Ayobami Lawal, has sued the Osun Poly Management for wrongful employment termination in a suit that joined the governor and attorney general of the state as co-defendants.

Filed on his behalf by his counsel, Mr Adenle Adetoye, Lawal is seeking a declaration that the January 11, 2016 termination was unjust and unlawful.

The 62-year-old also beseeched the court to immediately reinstate him as the Chief Lecturer and Dean of Faculty.

According to him, the school claimed that it laid him off for not developing himself academically declaring the premise as a facade to get rid of him for being an independent minded person.

Lawal maintained that he was employed in the school with HND and a Masters of Communication Arts from the University of Ibadan.

However, when the matter came up for hearing, the claimant’s counsel asked for a short adjournment date, to file for an amendment of the suit.

Justice Opeloye Ogunbowale of the National Industrial Court, Ibadan Division, on adjourned until December 11, 2018.
