Model Coco Rocha wouldn’t mind if her 4-year-old daughter Ioni followed in her catwalking footsteps.
“She’s obsessed with fashion,” Rocha said, following the pair’s sweet mother-daughter runway moment during New York Fashion Week.
Chatting at the Uniqlo U fall 2019 preview and launch party for the brand’s LifeWear magazine, Rocha and her husband, James Conran, told us that since they own a modeling agency called Nomad that works with aspiring cover girls, they’d be the perfect teachers for their daughter if she chose to pursue a career in fashion.
“If she’s up to it, why not? She will have the greatest momager and popager,” Rocha said, noting that Ioni’s interest may wear off in a few years.
“I have a sneaky feeling she’s going to be over it by age 8,” the 31-year-old told us.
The couple — who have been married since 2010 — are also parents to son Iver, who was born last year. And while they agreed that the jump from one to two children is “double the work,” they gushed over the bond that they’re seeing between their kids.
“Every morning they must cuddle, not by me, [but] Iver runs up to Ioni and she knows she must give him a cuddle,” Rocha said. “I love that and I hope that continues.”
But as a family with two little ones, Rocha told us that although she refused to alter her glam style when entering motherhood, her self-care routine goes by the wayside more often than not.
“At nighttime, you get the babies to sleep, and you hope you have a shower or you’re so exhausted that you might get your makeup off. In the morning you might have a leftover smokey eye; does it work the next day, who knows?” she joked.
“Once in a while I will do something big, like do a mask on my face,” she added.
Rocha’s family resides in Westchester, so they stayed in a hotel during the New York shows and told us they will do the same for Paris Fashion Week.
While navigating the nonstop supermodel life with kids in tow — Rocha won’t even find out if she’s walking in the Paris shows until she arrives — she said that moms need to make themselves a priority.
“I think don’t think of it as being selfish to take care of yourself, a happy mom will literally be a lot more beneficial to everyone,” she said. “It makes you feel a lot better when you just take a minute for yourself. I’m not talking about going off and getting everything done, just something for you; working out, your green smoothie in the morning, whatever it is for you, you will help the family.”
Also at the party, hosted at Uniqlo’s 5th Ave. store and DJ’d by Brendan Fallis, was model Nina Agdal and “America’s Next Top Model” fixture Miss J. Alexander.
